Lola opens season with the Miami Symphony

10/05/2014 - Powerful, emotional and grand - the Miami Symphony Grand Season Opening was all of that and more.  The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts was the place to see and be seen in Miami Sunday night, as over 2000 spectators gathered to hear Lola perform Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Pagainini with the Miami Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Eduardo Marturet.  As one reviewer described it: "A chic stage presence with a large following on YouTube, Astanova was clearly an audience favorite. After repeated bravos, she offered Chopin’s Etude in C minor, Op. 25, No. 12 as an encore."  Read the  Miami Herald review (in Spanish).

A night to remember at Porto Montenegro

- The Naval Heritage Museum was the backdrop for Lola's concert at Europe's hottest new mega yacht destination - Porto Montenegro.  Emerging from a historical submarine, Lola proceeded to "captivate the audience" with her performance of Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Scriabin, as well as her sense of style.  The concert brought together a diverse affluent international audience, who have turned Porto Montenegro into a place to see and be seen.  For the performance Lola wore Misahara jewelry pieces.

- New Orleans was the backdrop for tonight's Fabergé Opus Ball, where Lola performed Rachmaninoff's second concerto with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jahja Ling.  The concert took place at the historic Civic Theater, which carried a special meaning as virtuoso music resounded in these walls for the first time since the theater was nearly destroyed by hurricane Katrina.  "...virtuoso Russian-American pianist Lola Astanova, wowed the crowd, both with her keyboard prowess and her stunning glamour," exclaimed THE ADVOCATE, and THE TIMES-PICAYUNE noted that the audience was "...dazzled by the Rachmaninov Piano Concert No. 2...and guest artist, pianist Lola Astanova (who, herself, dazzled in a slinky, shimmering dress.)"  The concert ended with the standing ovation and an encore for which Lola performed Chopin's "Ocean Etude".

Chopin No. 2

03/17/2014 - "...the great, the good and the glamorous...beautiful young women in designer evening and champagne flowed all night long...magnificent music making from orchestra and soloist...Astanova’s touch was feathery light, at times spellbinding"  - that was the experience for all who were fortunate to attend a sold-out concert tonight, as Lola once again joined forces with the Palm Beach Symphony under the baton of Ramon Tebar to perform Chopin's 2nd concerto.  The performance ended with a standing ovation and critics praised Lola's "exceptional skill" stating further,  "...through skillfully executed dynamic changes, she was able to evoke within listeners feelings of endearment, sentimentality, gloom, dominance and even nostalgia."
